| 16th of June - Seminar Taxation in China We gathered three experts to explain how to solve some daily problems around taxation in China, covering topics such as the taxable income, deductible expenses and exemption items, normal tax rate and preferential tax rates under the PRC Enterprise Income Tax Law, the ways by means of which the non-resident enterprises can carry out their fiscal duties (both directly, with a representative, or indirectly) and, moreover, which are the different types of Personal Income Tax and how to file them. | 29th of May Mini-survey amongst EU member states regarding Chinese Trade Finance policies and practices China has been very active in using export credits as an instrument to support the export of capital goods. The country has become the third world largest provider of export credits, but is not bound by the main international agreement in the field - the OECD Arrangement on Export Credits. European Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), who adhere to the disciplines of the Arrangement, have noted an increased amount of cases where they cannot match the credit terms of the Chinese official support. The reason why European exporters are increasingly finding themselves on unequal competitive footing relative their Chinese counterparts is that the latter have access to official support on much more favorable financial terms and conditions than the EU ECAs can offer. This unequal competitive situation is not isolated to certain markets or certain industry sectors and has led to European exporters losing many economically and strategically important contracts. Following initiatives launched under current and previous Presidencies and discussions at the Council, the Commission was requested to engage with the Chinese authorities on this issue. As discussed in the Export Credit Council Working Group, the European Commission`s objective is to set up a bilateral EU-China dialogue on Trade Finance and Export Credits. | 2009, Chengdu EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair The EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair IV is sponsored by Ministry of Commerce, Sichuan Provincial Government, supported by the European Commission and executed by EU Project Incubation Centre (EUPIC). The fourth edition of this Matchmaking Event (executed by EUPIC for the second time) will be even larger than the third edition held in 2007. This year an estimated 200 companies from the 27 EU-States will participate as well as 600 Chinese companies from 12 western Chinese provinces. Furthermore officials of economic organizations, technology parks and several politicians will attend the cooperation fair. The Event will be held at the Crystal Hall of New Exhibition Centre from October 17th to 18th. Purpose of this Matchmaking Event is to boost trade and investment between Europe and western China by giving companies a platform to discuss concrete business cooperation. EUPIC and 27 international partner organizations will therefore offer their services and knowledge during and after the event to provide the created cooperation`s a sustainable business environment.
