WEB EDITOR

Purpose of the position:

The Web Editor is responsible for maintaining Greenpeace China website, developing new media tools and strategies, in order to help achieve Greenpeace’s campaign and organizational objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Work with other staff to offer strategic advice and execute plans on how to use the Greenpeace website and new media tools to help achieve organizational and campaign objectives;

• Maintain professional and high quality Greenpeace China website by developing, writing, producing and editing contents;

• Identify, design and develop innovative graphics, sound, and animations within the principles of the Web Style Guide and legal guidelines in order to produce dynamic visual content for the Greenpeace World Wide Web presence;

• Produce new media tools for campaigning, fundraising and public engagement purposes;

• Liaise with outside companies, programmers, web designers and freelance personnel. Manage and evaluate the work quality of outside vendors such as hosting firms, designers, writers and software developers.

Requirements:

• 2 years of HTML and web design and illustration programmes. Knowledge of Macromedia Flash and Digital Asset Management Systems is preferable;

• Knowledge of being an Internet or Intranet web master or content manager;

• Experience in creative writing and editing;

• Traditional journalism or web journalism experience is preferable;

• Knowledge and experience in IT support field is preferable;

• Fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese; Fluency in Cantonese Chinese is preferable.

The post will be 1-year contract and based in Beijing..
